Bronzeville Trail Task Force is Taking Over the South Side Today
Our May Events and Theater Guide features the Chicago Food Truck Festival, Steppenwolf's The Book of Grace, and more.
Happy Saturday Chicago Southsiders!
It’s finally warming up in the South Side streets, and you know we’ve been outside soaking up all the Vitamin D we can get (because Lord knows that winter tried to take us out). Sunshine is a whole personality at this point and we are HERE for it.
Speaking of getting out, I had the chance to catch Steppenwolf’s The Book of Grace on Thursday — and whew, I can't wait to share my thoughts. I'll be taking a little time to craft a few pieces and will have more for you next week, so stay tuned!
Although the sun might not show up today, there are still plenty of ways to get outside and enjoy the day like celebrating Trails Day in Bronzeville, which kicks off at 10:00 am.
Check out our Live coverage on Chicago Southsider’s Facebook page if you are not able to attend Celebrate Trails Day today.
Talk soon!

Black Homeownership Rates Could Drop Even Lower
In Chicago, where divisions between neighborhoods reflect deeper racial disparities, only 35% of Black residents own their homes compared to 54% of white households. There's growing concern that even fewer Black families will achieve homeownership if foreclosure rates continue to rise.

However, some are stepping up to change the narrative. Actor Larenz Tate and his brothers recently attended the Dearborn Realtist Board Community Wealth Building Day at Olive-Harvey College to show how people can build wealth through real estate. Read more here.
